new home: library

In the last 4 days, I've spent more hours in the library than I have at home. Two nights ago, I stayed up until 5am writing a paper on Heineken. Today, I'm writing a paper on Apple. And later this afternoon, another one on Jiffy Lube. I have three presentations this week. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. And did I mention that I have midterms in two weeks? How come time flies by so fast when you really just want it to slow down? If I can survive this crazy week then I can survive anything. Plus, if I make it through the madness, I will reward myself by going to a Halloween party on Saturday. I have an awesome costume idea, but because Micheals and ACMoore don't exist here, I have no idea where to go to get materials. I really hope I can pull it off cause there is nothing more disappointing than a typical Halloween costume. Wish me luck. With school and the costume. And here's hoping I'm still standing after Friday.

giddy giddy

They finally booked their flights. And in 3 weeks and 3 days, two of my most favorite people in the whole wide world will be here. In my city. In my house. In my life. I cannot freaking wait. My first visitors. They will stay in my craft room. And I will show them around. And take them to my favorite restaurants. And of course a few touristy places along the way. I am sooooooooo excited. And I think we're even going to take a nice long weekend to somewhere fabulous. Maybe Japan. Or maybe back to Boracay. I don't know. And frankly, it doesn't matter. As long as I'm with them, it will be a fabulous time. 

Random list for today:

• I hate my econ professor and his TA too. Ugh.
• I sat out in the quad today with a good friend. Perfect weather today. 
• I made tacos for lunch and I want to make tomato basil soup for dinner.
• The boy and I have decided to postpone our wedding until our lives aren't this crazy busy.
• I hate contact lenses. But I'm scared of Lasik surgery.
• I love the smell of old books in the library.
• I suck at public speaking and I'm petrified about my presentaion next week.
• I could eat cheese every single day and never get sick of it.

i blame guitar hero

Friday night was a total success. Right before people showed up I started freaking out a bit, which is so unlike me. Anxiety starting creeping in because first I couldn't find french baguette for my dip, then more people were added to the guest list last minute, and lastly cause I was scared that the sour cream I used for the 7-layer dip had expired (even though the expo date was weeks away). In the end, none of that mattered. We had good food, good conversations, and of course good drinks. At around 3am the cops showed up and ruined our fun. Next time I'll just have to remember that playing Guitar Hero at 3am will most definitely wake up the neighbors.

checking in

When the boy leaves I always take advantage of having fewer responsibilities.  So with that being said...I'm hosting a little party at my house tonight. I'll put out some cheese and crackers, seven layer dip, and maybe some other small finger foods (any suggestions?). I cleaned the apartment, bought plastic cups (not good for the environment, but much better for clean up purposes), and painted my nails a pretty shade of pink. I'm excited. Happy Friday. 

tyra made me smize

I had a dream last night that I was a contestant on ANTM and that Tyra Banks kicked me out for having love handles. I woke up giggling this morning and with a strong desire to hit the gym. It's funny how dreams work like that. Anyways, Tuesdays and Thursday suck for me. So let's hope today goes by quickly and painlessly. And here's hoping my accounting professor doesn't randomly call on me. I hate being put on the spot like that.

lucky 52

• This is the street where I have lived the last 16 months. I know I've said this before, but I love the location of our rented apartment. It's conveniently located smack in the middle between matt's office and my school. 10 minute commutes for both of us. Doesn't get any better than that.
• Matt left this morning to go work in Kuala Lumpur for 2 weeks and I'm so incredibly jealous. I begged him to take me along, but alas, he said I need to be a good student and therefore I was not allowed to come along.
• I scrapbooked today. And yesterday too. Made 2.5 pages. But just as I was getting excited to post them on the blog, my damn scanner broke down on me. And to make matters worse, my photo printer is acting wonky. I swear it knows that I just invested $80 on ink, and so now it has decided to print black and orange lines across all my pictures. So angering.
• I lost my favorite bra. My purple and pink one from Target. How does one do that? Maybe the dryer ate it? Who knows, but I'm sad.
• I am ready to face the week head on. Bring on the MBA madness.

freshness

I went out this past weekend for the first time in a long time. To be honest, I really didn't want to but it was the first time my classmates had made plans and I just didn't want to be the girl who said she'd go, and then backed out last minute. So I went. And it was so much fun. I met some really interesting people from all around the world. I love striking up conversations about the cities I've been to, lived in, or dream of going. And with the number of foreigners that seem to be popping up here and there, these kinds of conversations are becoming a more frequent thing.

And although I'm constantly having doubts about whether this MBA is right for me or not, I'm not having doubts about living in this fantastic city. I don't think I could do it forever, but for right now, it is a perfect place to be.

loooong week

A weekly update of sorts:

• Matt's 30th was a big success. Chilean food, good friends, drinks galore, and the best chocolate ganache cake in the entire world.
• I'm not sure if grad school is the right thing for me, but at least my classmates are cool.
• I am excited beyond words that Rio de Janeiro beat out all the other cities to host the Olympics in 2016. This will be the first time that a South American country hosts the Olympics, and as a fellow South American (and a next door neighbor to Brazil), this makes me so happy!
• I'm hooked on Super Mario Galaxy, again. Considering the amount of homework I have, this is not good people.
• I'm seriously thinking about starting my own company here in Taiwan.
• Loving Coke Zero, Tonkatsu (japanese friend pork chop), and Chinese pomelo.
• Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. I'll be doing homework, eating moon cake, and hoping that the typhoon doesn't arrive tonight so that I grab drinks tonight with my classmates.
