ode to lovely

oh man estoy ocupada

• i am super duper busy these days
• did i just say super duper? 
• i started a new semester today 
• which only means homework, and more homework 
• but i spent my break on a deserted island, with new friends, a good book, and a scooter to get me from point a to point b. 
• do you have any idea how fun scooters are?
• i want one so bad i could cry 
• i guess my trusted bike will have to do for now 
• back soon with pictures and perhaps a more interesting post 

me on paper

I met an amazing artist at a dinner party tonight. He had his sketchbook with him and he drew this picture of me.  It only took him 3-4 minutes from start to finish. Some people are just so incredibly talented. Some people know at a very young age what they want to do when they grow up. I am definitely not one of these people.

one more day

One more day, then 9 days of freedom. Do you have ANY idea how excited I am? Next week, I plan to sleep, workout, quilt, and relax. Maybe check out a museum or two. And possibly dust off the paper and glue area of my craft room. I also want to go exploring (on my bike, of course) before the weather gets unbearably warm. I love riding my bike around, discovering hidden boutiques, or quaint family restaurants. My favorite part about riding my bike is just riding until I feel lost, and then having to use Chinese to ask for directions or just navigating through unfamiliar roads until I find my way. Is that weird?

waiting game

I'm happy to announce that I turned in my MBA applications on Friday. After being out of school for 4 years, it was extremely hard to sit down and write four application essays. Back in the day I could crank out a ten-pager in one night. Yet four 1-page essays seemed to be the hardest thing I've done in years. Luckily they're all done and now it's just a waiting game until mid-May.

Other things I am happy about:

• my house is the cleanest it has ever been
• matt made the best fajitas last night 
• sleeping for 12 hours straight 
• spring break in 5 days!   

2 days until deadline 1

• I cleaned my scrap room and now I feel like being artsy
• I keep having strong urges to shop online for fabric 
• I ate a whole (medium-sized) can of Pringles today  
• I still have a burning desire to dye my hair  
• Should I do it? yes? no? maybe? help me.
• I am skipping all my classes tomorrow 
• Because I have to finish writing grad school application essays
• Is Zumba cool? Or is it for old ladies with no rhythm? I can't decide. 
• My sister says its cool, but then again, so does my mom. 
• I lost a bet and had to do a cartwheel in Costco 
• It was pretty funny, but I guess you had to be there. 
• I think I want to start my own company when I grow up 

"give me my camera back"

It looks like I'm pretending to be Spiderman (insert cool swoosh web-coming-out-of-hand sound), but in fact, i was just asking for my camera back. After what felt like 60 pictures of the same pose, I just wanted the blinding-flash-in-my-eyes to stop. For some reason taiwanese girls, after just briefly meeting me, want to take a picture with me. It kinda makes me feel like a celebrity. But I think they just want to post it on facebook with the caption "hey look, i have a foreigner friend." 

In other exciting news, I shocked a few people last night with my Chinese speaking skills. I hadn't seen some friends since last year and their mouths hit the floor when they heard how much I had improved. Seeing and hearing their reactions was something I will never forget. It made me feel like it's finally all coming together. And that, my friends, is an awesome feeling.

Finally, it's friday. After a exhausting and trying week, I am sitting in bed enjoying the first few moments of this long awaited weekend. I cried twice this week. Once because I was being emotional. And once because I felt stressed. I like to pretend that I'm stronger than I really am. I like to tell people that things don't bother me, when in fact they eat me up inside. I have to stop pretending and I have to start speaking up. It's hard for me to ask for help. And its definitely hard to speak my truth to the ones who love me most. But for some incredibly strange reason, I can open up to a total stranger. Is that weird or what?

i wish it were friday

• i made philly cheesesteaks for dinner last night. matt gave them a 10/10.
• does anyone else rate their meals on a 1-10 scale?  
• i am going to jazz class tonight. i hope it kicks my ass. 
• i seriously can't wait for next week's LOST episode.  
• i have 13 more days of class before a 7 day break.  
• i think i want to go down to the south of taiwan during said break. 
• sometimes i think i'm crazy for what i'm doing out here. 
• but most days, i think its the coolest thing i have ever done with my life. 
• well, maybe except for the semester abroad in sevilla.  
• do you wish you could change the past, or see the future? 
• it feels like wednesday. it's only tuesday. and i wish it were friday. 

on bike riding

I love my bike. love love love. Best $100 I ever spent. Especially since the guy who sold it to me through in a basket, lock, and an annoying (yet surprisingly useful) bell for free. I ride it daily to class. This picture was taken on National Taiwan University's campus. Everyone rides bikes here on campus and now I feel like I'm just like the other students. Just yesterday, someone asked me if I was Taiwanese. I couldn't help but give them an awkward "wtf" look when they asked, but at the same time, it was kinda nice to be mistaken for a local.

i introduced matt to photobooth today. good times. but shortly after this picture was taken, i lost my boyfriend to some new Xbox360 game...which means I won't have a boyfriend until this so called game is conquered. does anyone else have this same kind of problem boyfriend?
