happy leap year

I have always loved leap year. I think it's an interesting day. I think it would have been cool to be born on a day that only comes once every four years. Although, I do ponder about when exactly those leap year babies celebrate their birthdays. Do they party on the 28th? Or the 1st? Or just every four years (although I highly doubt that is the case).

Today on my way to work, I heard on the radio that some people boycott leap year by refusing to go to work for that one extra day a year. At first I thought it was kinda stupid, but then I thought "why didn't I think of that?!" I could be at home right now, in my pajamas, with some apple pie from the amish market, waking up with matt lauer.  Instead, I am at my usual place for a friday morning. Sitting behind a 19 inch dell computer screen. But, I can't complain. Because of two reasons:

1. It's Friday, and the weekend begins in 6.5 hours
2. It's pay day, and this paycheck includes my 2007 bonus

So tonight, I will celebrate you, mr. leap year. With good friends, lots of beer, and my 2007 bonus!

good news

I just got word that my mom's sewing machine will be promptly returned to our lovely home this afternoon. I am one happy girl. Ladies and gents, we are back in business! Whee.

always stay hopeful

This is my daily page for today. Matt didn't get a job that he really wanted, and that I really wanted for him. But that's  life. I believe that everything happens for a reason. And I trust that bigger and better things await us. So, here's to tomorrow. May it bring the promise of new beginnings.

• Realizing that my gym workouts are starting to pay off

aahh, yes. the daily book.

The daily book, should really be called the "whenever I have time and/or patience to create art book." I was really good about keeping up with it in January. Probably because I was attracted to the newness of it all. But the harsh reality is that expecting myself to create a daily something is just unrealistic. I work a full time job. And I sit in my car for an hour (or more) each way just to get to and from work. So when I get home, the last thing I want to do some days is be creative. But I will keep up with this project for 366 days. Because my word this year is FINISH. And finish, I will.

I also have a mini in the works. It doesn't have a title yet. But it is to the likes of, and inspired by, the This Is Me blog. It is very small, 3.5 x 5, and it is making me very happy. Will share soon. 

Number Two

This is what quilt number two will look like. I'm designing it myself so it is going to take FOREVER, but I think that the end result will help me forget the long, endless hours that it will take to finish this baby. I made this block over a month ago. And I would have so much more to show if my mom's machine wasn't being serviced right now. I can't wait to continue this quilt journey. I am so in love with the fabrics that everytime I see them, I swear my heart skips a beat. No joke. So, here's to number two. May she turn out as beautifully as I imagine her to be.

I am tired, and hungry, and bored, and blah. And I am craving gooey choclate chip cookies so badly right now. Oh and some apple crisp pie from the Amish market. Mmmm. Why is it that I never crave celery sticks?

sickness strikes again

I got sent home from work on Friday.  I guess I sounded gross enough for my boss (who I strongly believe hates me) to muster up the courage to say two words to me, which in this case were, "go home." I swear he avoids me at all costs. Which, frankly, is fine by me.

And even though I have been feeling like crap, and against Dr. Matt's orders, I have still been going to scrapbowl. I have been looking forward to seeing my girls for months so there was no way that a sinus infection, sore body, runny nose, cough, headache, and/or a fever was going to stop me. But I swear my friends have been better medicine than all the damn Aleve Cold & Sinus pills I have ingested. As soon as I'm with them, the symptoms clear. The minute I leave them, I feel like death on a stick. Which means, I need to stop typing and head over there immediately. Farewell.

And my beloved Sayid becomes survivor number four

Dude. I was so right. You can imagine how ecstatic I was when I found out that I, for once, had made an accurate guess. I immediately text my cousin michelle (who I had emailed earlier in the day with my guess) and she write back "genius cuz genius!" haha. I love it when people are crazy lost fans like myself. But WTF when we find out that Ben is Sayid's boss in the flash forward!! I mean, I like ben. Mostly for his weird and twisted ways. But if he is the MAIN guy behind this whole Lost experience, then I don't think I'm going to like that one bit. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Scrapbowl starts tomorrow. If you're going to be there, shoot me a line so I know to say what's up. Can't wait to see my ladies, get my scrap on, and get paint stuck in between my fingernails. 

two fourteen oh eight

I'm not a big fan of the commercialized holidays. I much rather get a bouquet of flowers on a random monday then on Valentine's Day.  My mom yelled at me last night when I told her Matt and I don't typically celebrate it.  She said "If he doesn't spoil you now, just wait until you guys are married!" Hahaha. And as much as I adore my mom's loving words, I had to set her straight.

This man spoils me every single day. He gives me everything I need, and more. He is so understanding, and kind, and loving, and funny, and strong, and full of sweetness, that there is not a day that goes by that I am not 100% certain about his love.  So, sorry mom. But I don't need a box of chocolates today to know that he adores me. Plus I rather get a granola bar. Chocolate goes straight to the thighs.

I asked Matty for a number, and he said 25. So Michelle, come on down! Please email me your address and I'll send you some fun stuff by Friday.

So, yes people. I was indeed Posh Spice. I know that appalled some of you (Stacey) and I hope that we can still be friends. Yes? Maybe? Ok? And I still don't have the group shot of us. That is what happens when you go with non-scrappy people who don't understand the importance of exchanging pictures at lightning speed. But I'm working on it.

Ok, question. How do you know that a headache is not just a severe headache, but indeed a migraine? Because I have a massive headache right now. Yes, right now as I type. And I just want to curl up under my cube and sleep (a la George Costanza). And hide from the computer screen and any and all forms of light. I think I need to wikipedia this problem. Wikipedia, Google, and Target tend to solve 92% of my problems/questions. Alright, back to it.

"I've never been to a concert where they started and ended with the same song."

The concert was fabulous. It made me feel like I was 17 again. I'm happy I decided to go last minute. I didn't want to bring the Nikon to the show so this (very poorly taken) picture is all I have right now. And I want to have some fun with this picture (as embarrassing as it is) until I get the group shot of us. So, if you can guess who I'm trying to portray and what concert I went to then I will pick a random winner and send you a fun package of some of my favorite products. It will definitely have some paper source labels. The rest is TBD, but I promise it will be good. I will pick a winner on Wednesday.

Here's a hint: I am married to a very famous soccer star.
